Yes, the "secret lifestyle" is that he is a vampire, though Bella briefly thinks Edward is gay when it seems that the only visitor he ever gets is Jasper. Edward has not lived with the other Cullens for about 20 years, though they are not completely cut off from each other. While at work, Edward is the head of a large corporation but during his off hours, he is tracking the deaths around the city that he believes are caused by other vampires (Victoria & James). Eventually there is a confrontation of course. Will Edward be able to keep Bella safe?
