I just discovered that an author whose stories I love recently removed her all stories from ff.net, but her profile was still up.  I sent her a message through her profile asking if she would send me a Word or PDF file of her stories, and she did.  Was I ever relieved that she was willing do send them.  I have painfully learned to immediately download any story I like, or think I'll like.  >

Thank goodness you had a happy ending, sweetie. : ) Prolific Peggy.

Also, here's a link to ADifferentForest website topic regarding pulled fics. Someone on there likely has it. You'll have to join ADF.

Does anyone know why the author (DeydreamBeliever) removed her story "Changing the Future" from fanfiction.net? I really loved that fic. How can I find it? >

First off---is her profile still on ff.net? If it is, it might just be the fact she's taken it off to fix a few things or maybe she got a bad review and decided to delete it from ff.net.

If that's the case, then you might just google her name and put fanfic or twilight fanfic after it. Or google the name of the piece. It might lead you to another place she's put it.

However, if her profile, along with the piece or any other's she's written there, is gone, she's either left ff.net or she's taken it off because she's going to be a professional writer. A lot of them them do that. Now if it's the first, you might still find it out there. However, if they're turning professional, they usually hit all the sites they've posted on.

I know that ff.net is a great place to find fanfic but sometimes---well, I've heard horror stories about it---from friends who have posted there. I think some of the viewers love to flame them. I know a friend of mine got it once and I said to her, sounds like the person likes another pairing that you didn't write and is hoping that you will switch sides. I can tell you for a fact, that doesn't work. It either gets you so riled that you lift the piece off---or you just ignore it and figure, eh, I'm not changing or eh, other people love it---what's one bad review to 10 good ones. Now, that's a light flame---there have been some that could light a campfire for 10 months---not good. Really not good.

Hope that helps. Prolific Peggy.

that was my assumption. Even though I won't get to read the end of the story I just spent days catching up on, or find out who the attempted-kidnapper was, what was there was very well written and I had taken notes to post in reviews but the story was gone when I went to do it. I had hoped to at least leave her with some nice comments. >

So sorry you didn't get to do that, sweetie. : ( This is why I don't do WIP anymore when I do get to read. It's the same in all fandoms---some pieces don't get finished for whatever reason is out there. : ( Prolific Peggy.

I'll check, but the note she left on her FF profile made it seem like she was quitting all fanfic related things.  :(

You might also want to try twilighted.net and see if that author is on that fanfic sight.

Unfortunately, this doesn't sound like a good sign. Unless she has posted elsewhere or somebody does know her e-mail addy (and some people give out their e-mail addy to friends and ask not for it to be given out by them for privacy reasons or otherwise), you might be out of luck.

As to the reason she might have done this, maybe she felt a little uncomfortable about being there because of some feedback or something that happened to another writer. I know that I belong to ff.net but only to do feedback because I have heard some horror stories about friends and other people being slammed by some readers. So, I doubt I would ever post a story, even if I could figure out how the heck to do it. Another reason might be that she's going professional and it's always best to take off fanfic when that happens. Course, it might just be the fact that she's taken them off to polish them but it seems that when you disable the PM that you will not be coming back---unless she doesn't want a lot of messages asking why did you take off your fanfic.

I know you didn't ask about why they were gone but I thought I might ease your mind cause knowledge is good when something like this happens. However, just speculation. I hope somehow you get your message to her, sweetie. : )  Prolific Peggy.
