I would do the same thing, if I felt that way. New Moon was hard for me to read because it reminded me of my past, but it wasn't with my bf. Yep---after he grew up and took on his Alpha role, I liked him. In fact, I've always liked him as a wolf---but he irked me as a human being until the last book. Just felt like he was an interloper on one of the greatest love stories ever told. But knowing he would never have Bella as anything but a friend, at one point I wondered why SM's even introduced this. It wasn't until he ran away and came back that I understood why. He had to have his heart broken in order to move on and become the man he's supposed to be; an alpha leader; a friend to Bella and Edward and the clan; a man who was going to imprint and be a part of their family forever, because of it.
