Yes, he finally got Twilight from Netflix.
I told him---see the movie first and then read the book. Better to not find himself wondering about the differences between the two. And now he's off to see if he can get the book from the library.
His reaction to it---basically close to mine. Another friend last night said it's like we're psychic movie twins. I said it was more like that---we tend to like the same books and tv series too.
So, his reaction:
1. It wasn't the worse he had ever seen but it wasn't the best either. Same as me---it's like in between.
2. He loved the stuff about the native american indians (I did too and I told him when he reads the book and New Moon he'll get more) but didn't care for the teen angst at all. Neither did I, in the books or in the movie. We're both not big fans of triangles either.
3. He also had problems with the scene where Edward saved Bella from turning. He felt it was like---overkill---pardon the pun. I said it's better in the book.
4. He found the make up for the head of the cullen clan and Jasper was a bit too much. Like, how could people not know that they're vampires. Again, I felt like they were golden statues come to life.
5. I asked him how he likes Kristen as Bella. He wasn't impressed---unfortunately I wasn't either. But I think the problem with me is after reading the book, she just didn't live up to Bella's standards. And try as I might---I kept seeming more chemistry between Taylor and Rob, then Rob and Kristen. Yeah, no---I'm not into slash but maybe it's the fact the scene they were in was overwhelmingly like a pissing contest. It was alive with unspoken promise, I guess. But then, it might just be I'm not a big fan of Kristen either. Still, I think it's more that after you read a book you can picture somebody as a character and sometimes when you see it on screen, it doesn't work for you.
6. He noticed the animosity that Jakes father had when dealing with the Cullens and I said the book would explain more.
It's like we were comparing notes. : ) He knows I'm staying away from the movies until the last one so he won't know whether to see them or not. He'll probably read the books though and then decide. I just think we're more into the adult vampire books. Or maybe the fact that vampires work better for us on page than screen. Last time I saw something vampire before Twilight---that would be Angel. : )
Oh, I did see an amazing movie yesterday afternoon and trust me when I say---Christmas---I'm asking for the movie. : ) Transformers 2 has everything a person would want---Robots, family, friends, love, adventure, sacrifice, and so much more. I was just so overwhelmed by the ability of the movie to make you forget about time and space---that I have to say---is it Christmas yet? : ) Prolific Peggy.
