so.... I read a story recently that had Bella pointing out that maybe Jasper isn't so much "the weakest link" so much as he is just feeling not only his own thirst, but that of the 6 other vampires, so it would make sense that he's having a hard time with resisting because he's 7 times as "thirsty" as they are. More so when they are around Bella since she's Edward's singer. It makes sense to me.
I think this is the story I read it in, if anyone is curious. The first few chapters are basically Edward's POV of New Moon when Alice, Edward and Bella are meeting The Volturi. It's at the end of... chapter 4 I think... that the story diverges from the original. (also Bella concentrates on how she felt at being abandoned by all of them and then tells Edward to make the rest of them feel it. Then she asks Jasper to make her feel what Edward was feeling when they were apart.)
Edward left. Bella and Alice fly to Volterra to rescue him. They return home. The voting takes place and then... Bella explains that if Edward and the rest of the family want to stay in her life, there need to be some changes made...
