Bella has run away from home due to bad experiences with her step-father Phil (trying to remember -- I don't think he raped her, but it was headed that direction if she hadn't left.) She is homeless, living out of her pick-up. On the day she is supposed to start her new job as cleaning lady at a gym, she goes early hoping to use the showers before anyone else arrives. She discovers Edward badly beaten and virtually unconscious in the locker room. She takes him back to his apartment and cleans him up.
Edward had left his family when young. Emmett owns the gym (possibly co-owns with Jasper, I forget). Jasper is Edward's trainer. Due to a bad past experience of his own, Jasper is skeptical when Bella and Edward become a couple. James is another boxer in the story who Edward has a boxing match against and James doesn?t fight fair.
